Near the town of Takachiho in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, we can found Takachiho Gorge, a stunning natural landscape that combines four elements of great beauty: a river of clear water, huge cliffs, waterfalls and lush vegetation.
This gorge was created by Gokase-gawa River and it has a walk of 600 meters long, flanked by cherry trees and several traditional Japanese flowers and trees. The idillic waterfall can be seen from the walk, falling from 17 meters high and we can approach it by boat.
Takachiho is a place associated with many legends and myths, and in addition to this beautiful gorge, it has a large number of attractions you can visit, such as Takachiho-jinja Shrine, Kunimi-ga-oka Hill and Amano -Iwato-jinja Shrine.
At Takachiho-jinja Shrine in the evening, you can enjoy the Yokagura Dance, a traditional sacred music and dancing dedicated to the gods. The top of Kunimi-ga-oka Hill commands an excellent view of Takachiho City and the mountains surrounding it.
