The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the biggest events in London and the largest floral festival in the United Kingdom. It takes place annually on the last weekend of May and it is held in the grounds of the Chelsea Hospital, which open to the general public, although, it is a very popular event for the British royal family. Just this year, it is devoted to the 60 anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II.

The Chelsea Flower Show has been organizing since 1862 by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the gardens of Chelsea Hospital in London. The festival has five categories: gardens, trees, horticulture and aromatic plants, educational exhibits, photographing and floral arrangements. The winner of each one receives an award from the hand of the Queen of England.
Guide to visit the Chelsea Flower Show
- When: From 22th to 26th May 2012
- The first two days the festival is only open to RHS members. On Saturday 26, you can enjoy a discount on the entry.
- Hours: 22th, 23th, 24th, 25th May: 8 am-8 pm On May 26th the festival closes at 5:30 pm and from 4:30 pm it is possible to buy flowers.
- Getting There: We recommend to use public transport. There is a metro station, Sloane Square. Also, bus lines 11, 137, 211 and 239, which can be taken at Victoria Station, stopping near the fairgrounds.
