7 Weird beach sculptures

The beach is a place to relax, to forget the worries of every day life. However, there are some beaches around the world, that have been chosen by artists to display weird sculptures facing the waves of seas and oceans or resting in the warm sand. Nevertheless, in some cases, they are creepy structures that can scare off sunbathers, but what is certain is that they are original and surprising ideas.

Hand of harmony, Homigot, South Korea. The left hand stands on land, and the right hand stands in the ocean water. These sculptures are made of bronze and granite. The hands were constructed in 1999 to symbolize continuing efforts of all Korean citizens to pursue a better quality of life.

El Peine del VientoSan Sebastian, Spain It means the Wind Comb and it is a collection of scupltures by Eduardo Chillida located at the end of la Concha Bay. It consists of three steel sculptures embedded in the rocks overlooking the Cantabrian Sea.

Sperm Whale, Scheveningen Beach, The Netherlands. Made from wood, aluminum and polyester this sperm whale “washed up” on Scheveningen beach, the Netherlands July 2008.

Another Place, Liverpool, England is a piece of modern sculpture by Antony Gormley and permanently erected on Crosby Beach. It consist of 100 cast iron figures which face out the sea. Each figure is 189 cm tall and weighs around 650 kg.

The Hand, Punta del Este, Uruguay is a scuplture of five fingers at Brava Beach. It has become a symbol for Uruguay and it was made by Mario Irarrazabal during the summer of 1982.

A Room where it always rains, BarcelonaSpain. This sculpture made by Juan Muñoz, consists of 5 stone weebles trapped in a cage.

Couple, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, England. It comprises two 5 metres tall bronze figures (a man and a woman) standing on the breakwater and looking out to the sea, created by Sean Henry.
